The Lobo ParaMilitary Christmas Special Movie

In 2002 a low budget short film based on the legendary Lobo christmas comic, "The Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special," materialized. The action and effects are severely limited by it being a low budget film but its still pretty good.

It stars Andrew Bryniarski (the new 'Leatherface') as Lobo and he plays the part pretty well - probably better than anyone will in the Lobo feature film that is supposedly in the works that is supposedly trying to hit a wimpy non-main-manish PG-13 rating (PG-13 Lobo?? What a buncha pansy bastitches!)

Doomsday Machine (a.k.a. Armageddon 1975, a.k.a. Doomsday, a.k.a. Escape from Planet Earth)

In an effort to further explore the galaxy, the United States is hours away from launching a manned mission to Venus. But when a Chinese plot to destroy the Earth is uncovered, the U.S. teams up with the Soviet Union to replace members of its all-male crew with women. Now, it’s up to the crew of Project Astra to keep the human race alive and thriving.

When their father dies, three greedy sisters and their husbands reunite to hear the reading of the will. His fortune is theirs . . . assuming, of course, they’re able to survive a full week at the family mansion. One by one, the unsavory characters find themselves the targets of an unknown killer who has plans of his own for the family fortune.

Directed by Andy Milligan this is a remake of his own film THE GHASTLY ONES. Fans of one or the other often argue mightily over which is better - personally I don't see the argument as they both have some good parts wrapped in a mostly bad B-movie package.

In The Devil's Wedding Night (a.k.a. Full Moon of the Virgins), scholarly Karl Schiller believes he's found Wagner's Ring of the Nibelungen, which holds great power. It's at Castle Dracula. His twin, Franz, a gambler, asks if vampires frighten Karl; Karl shows him an Egyptian amulet, which may protect him. Franz takes the amulet and sets out ahead of his brother, arriving at the castle first. There he finds a countess (played by Rosalba Neri - billed as Sara Bay) who invites him to dine.



Later that night, Karl arrives. Coincidentally, it's the Night of the Virgin Moon, a night that falls every fifty years and draws five virgins from the surrounding village to the castle not be heard from again. Can Karl protect his brother, find the ring, and rescue any of the women?

H-Night Final Countdown *10* - Fury of the Wolfman

Fury of the Wolfman aka La furia del Hombre Lobo is the fifth appearance of Paul Naschy's burly werewolf character Waldemar Daninsky (following Frankenstein's Bloody Terror).

This film finds Waldemar returning home from Tibet, where he was first afflicted with his beastly curse. After making cutlets of his cheating wife and her lover, he is accidentally killed, then brought back to life by a sadistic lady scientist (Perla Cristal) who likes to beat him savagely and keeps her less fortunate subjects' severed body parts strewn about the house. Waldemar eventually escapes the laboratory to slay a few local kids before coming face-to-face with his late wife, who has also been transformed into a werewolf by Cristal.

In 1906, in China, Professor Alexander Saxton (Christopher Lee) discovers an ancient frozen fossil in the remote Province of Szechuan. He brings the remains of the being in a box to Shanghai and boards a trans-Siberian train, where he meets his acquaintance Dr. Wells (Peter Cushing). During the trip, a life force trapped in the frozen creature is released, killing and stealing the memories of the passengers.

An irrigation project in the rural bayous of Louisiana unearths Kharis the living mummy (Lon Chaney Jr.), who was buried in quicksand 25 years earlier. Horror and madness of 'course result from this.

H-Minus 13 - Deadtime Stories

As it is now, so it was then... For everthing good there is an evil thing And with every happy-ending, so a tale of horror begins...


Inspired by traditional fairy tales, this trio of gruesome and darkly-comic vignettes is framed by the story of a lethargic uncle who can't seem to alleviate his bratty young nephew's fear of the dark and get him to go to sleep, trying his hand at telling a few warped versions of his favorite bedtime tales.

Uncle Mike: Once upon a time, there was a little girl named "Rachel." Actually, she wasn't all that little. She was a hot-looking high school senior with deep blue eyes, and fine, firm breasts and...
Little Brian: That's not the way Mommy tells it!
Uncle Mike: Shut up, that's the way I tell it.

The first installment, "Peter and the Witches," tells the story of a young fisherman (Scott Valentine of "Family Ties" fame) enslaved by two shape-shifting witches who are trying to bring their sister back to life; he later rebels against his masters after falling in love with the virgin they've captured as a sacrifice.

The goofy second chapter involves "Little Red Running Hood" -- a somewhat shapelier modern version of the classic heroine -- whose jog to Granny's house leads to a showdown with a pill-popping weirdo whose anti-werewolf remedy got switched with Granny's prescription.

Still unable to satisfy the demanding tyke, the exhausted uncle pulls out all the stops for the final tale, in which the Three Baers, a family of murderous crackers, encounter the telekinetic Goldi Lox, a malevolent cutie who shares the Baers' penchant for death and dismemberment.

H-Minus 14 - The Pod People

Los Nuevos Extraterrestres aka The Pod People is a 1983 Spanish science fiction film originally intended as a low-budget horror movie about an evil alien. However, after the success of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), the producers demanded script changes, making the alien into a lovable character, and adding a kid who befriends it. Director Juan Piquer Simón was not satisfied with the final result. The film was largely forgotten until 1991, when it was lampooned by everyone's favorite movie-mocking television show: Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The film starts with three poachers preparing to enter the woods in search of game. One of the hunters sees something in the sky that he thinks is a meteor and goes to investigate. He finds a stash of large eggs in a red glowing cave and begins smashing them. An unseen entity finds and kills the poacher, but not before he smashes all but one of the eggs. the mystery creature begins to take revenge, first on the hunters and then on members of a rock band that is camping in the mountains for the weekend.

Tommy (Óscar Martín), a boy who lives in a secluded house with his mother Molly (Concha Cuetos) and uncle Bill (Manuel Pereiro), also finds the cave and the remaining intact egg and brings it home, where it shortly hatches and grows rapidly until by the next day it is as large as Tommy. Tommy nicknames him "Trumpy", presumably due to the alien's short, elephant-like trunk, and they become playmates. As the dangerous mother alien continues looking for her child, the rock band seeks out Tommy's house for medical care after one of their group, Laura (a female "friend" and apparent groupie of the lead singer Rick), is struck from ambush by the alien mother and falls off of a short cliff.

The film features the fictional pop band's performance of "Burning Rubber Tires", which was lampooned on MST3K for its unintelligible lyrics, specifically the chorus, "hear the engines roll now", which was interpreted by the MST3K cast as "hideous control now", "idiot control now" and other variations. The lead singer's after-song gesture of making the A-OK sign, smiling, and saying, "It stinks" became a recurring in-joke on MST3K.

H-Minus 15 - The Undead (1957)

The 1957 Roger Corman film The Undead stars Pamela Duncan, Richard Garland, Allison "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" Hayes, Val Dufour, and Mel Welles as Smolkin, the Gravedigger.




In the film, Two psychic researchers procure the services of a lady of the night and cause her to regress back in time under hypnosis. She finds herself in the body of a past existence - a woman in medieval times waiting to be beheaded as a witch. By avoiding this fate she unwittingly starts to alter history.

H-Minus 16 - Hobgoblins

After Gremlins we were deluged with a torrent of little creature movies. A lot of them were pretty good and went on to have their own well established series of sequels - like say Critters. Then, on the other hand, in 1988 there was perhaps the cheesiest of them all: Hobgoblins which kinda went nowhere until MST3K picked it up for one of their better shows making fun of it. The hobgobs had no sequel - well that is until THIS YEAR! That's right, inspired as much by the MST3K version as by Hobgoblins itself, the director has returned 20 years later to make Hobgoblins 2! Oh the horror!

So without further yak-yak-yaking about things.. here's the hilarious MST3K version of Hobgoblins, followed by the 1st interview by the cast in 20 years where they tell you what they think of the movie, the MST3K version, and Hobgoblins 2 - and then a trailer for the modern day sequel itself ;)

H-Minus 17 - Brutal Legend

Just in time for Rocktober and Halloween comes the greatest rock inspired video game since Full Throttle! Brütal Legend is an action-adventure game created by Double Fine Productions and published by EA full of monsters, demons and HEAVY METAL.

The game features the character of Eddie Riggs, voiced by Jack Black, a roadie who is transported to a fantasy world inspired by the artwork of Frank Frazetta and heavy metal album covers. Eddie becomes the world's savior, leading the down-trodden humans against a range of supernatural overlords using a battle axe, his Flying V guitar infused with magical powers, and a customizable hot rod. In addition to Black, the game features the voices and likenesses of legendary heavy metal musicians including Lemmy Kilmister, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, and Ozzy Osbourne, and other celebrities such as Tim Curry, as well as more than one hundred classic metal songs.

H-Minus 18 - Faust - Eine deutsche Volkssage (1926)

This is the 1926 silent film FAUST by director F.W. Murnau who is best known for Nosferatu. Faust is equally impressive tho often overlooked, with some remarkable visuals, solid acting, a truly sinister villain, and an epic tale of love, loss and evil.

God and Satan war over earth; to settle things, they wager on the soul of Faust, a learned and prayerful alchemist. During a plague, Faust despairs and burns his books after failing to stop death; Satan sends Mephisto to tempt Faust, first with insight into treating the plague and then with a return to youth.
